The Elite Eight happened, and my model accurately predicted the results of all four games, sending me into the Final Four at 44/60 overall with my initial National Championship winners still alive. That said, let’s take a look at what’s going on down in New Orleans.

Saint Peter’s beat the odds for the third game in a row, though again Shaheen Holloway is the only person on the planet that had them here. I warned that the homecourt advantage of the Houston Cougars could come into play in spite of my model’s prediction, and I was right: the Cougars basically played a home game in their victory over Arizona.

The second weekend kicks off with the Sweet Sixteen, wherein we will usually see a Cinderella or two take form and high seeds take losses that have them heading home early. The first weekend weeds out the good from the great. The second weekend weeds out the pretenders from the contenders.

The Round of 64 was nothing short of a categorical success for my model and its ability to predict tournament games. It accurately predicted the results of 27 of the 32 games in the Round of 64
